You’ve got chocolate on you, saved you from looking a berk there didn’t I? How’ve you been? Come on then.
This month we had the immense pleasure of headlining the Birmingham O2 Academy 2 for the JAR music ‘Ones to watch’ Showcase, we love the sound (and space) of the O2, so it was ace to be invited back. Thank you so much to those of you who made it – despite the dire weather – you surely made the night. There were some wicked bands – old friends Mezzatonic are well worth a check out[https://www.facebook.com/Mezzotonic] and local boys Time Of The Mouth [https://www.facebook.com/TimeOfTheMouth] also played a wicked set, we look forward to playing with them again in the future.
At the writing of the last news letter we had just started recording our next EP which to you lovely subscribers I can exclusively reveal will be entitled ‘Limerence’
We’re almost done recording it now – just a few bits of vocals left – and its it the soft, strong and capable hands of producer Will Diment, ‘Hard Lines’ is pretty much done, we’re so happy with the way its sounding and cannot wait to share it with you. Head over to the Ronin shop to get shineys and help us pay for making the next lot 🙂 www.roninmusicuk.com/shop/
It’s done, and It’s beautiful, Honestly I am so pleased with how it looks, we had an amazing team of people working on it; Director Terry Walls did an incredible job of translating the concept and mess of ideas inside the hive Ronin brain into visuals, I’ve known Terry for a long time and his work is never anything but exemplary, even so I’m just astounded at how good it looks, You can find him here [www.terrymedia.co.uk] Thanks also to Mark for his awesome camera work and biscuit-polishing-off abilities. Thank-you Lucy from Belle Beauty [www.bellebeautymalvern.co.uk] for helping make us beautiful ( you tried ) We can’t really thank anyone else yet without giving too much away, but you know who you are, and soon the world will too.
Cherry Suede are the most Canadian band we’ve ever played with. Fact. We accompanied them on a few dates of their UK tour; what a blast. It was really interesting for us to re-imagine all our songs as acoustic and such an unusual energy dynamic between us and the crowd without all the noise and flashy guitars to hide behind. It was especially awesome to not have to carry any gear about or pack down, we had a wicked time touring with them, all the folks were very welcoming and friendly, if you’re a new subscriber it was great meeting you, If you’re an old subscriber and you haven’t checked out the suede, do.
We’re honored to be supporting the Blockheads at the Robin 2, my favorite cassette when I was a kid was Ian Dury and the Blockheads, so I’m very excited personally, I saw them at a festival a few years back and they’re the tightest band I’ve ever seen, such good performers, It’ll be a real privilege to share a stage with them, 19th April at the Robin 2 in Birmingham, Tickets are £17.50 in advance, message us for tickets.

These are promising to be really great gigs so if we are coming local to you, come and show your face and have a good time!
