August Newsletter

As I sit here, exhausted, on a particularly bright and beautiful Monday morning – jug of coffee in hand – and preparing to write this month’s newsletter, I’m struggling to figure out what to leave out, it’s been a good month, let’s just dive right in, do me a favour and pretend the intro was sharp.

Limerence & Tour news:

As you hopefully know, in October we’re releasing a new EP – ‘Limerence’. Local artist Matt Williams has worked diligently on the cover, coming up with a beautiful concept that elegantly captures the core themes of the album, plus it looks well cool ennit.
I’m glad to be able to show you a sneak peek – here’s the template we sent to the printers

In October we are touring, this is a big deal to us and we would like to see as many of you there at one point or another as possible.

Here are the dates for that:

Tickets for the EP launch at our beloved hometown Marr’s Barr venue are available HERE.

Support comes from local geniuses (genii?) Time of the Mouth and the absurdly brilliant Ass Pasty. We love them both and are certain you will too. We may also have some very special guests but can’t say any more about that right now – cross your fingers.
The last date of the tour is Halloween, back in Birmingham at the Actress and Bishop. I’m sure we’ll figure something cool out for that too.

First Review of Limerence!

Firebrand Magazine have been the first to review Limerence. It’s a pretty pleasing affair, we scored an 8/10 and they called us ‘whippersnappers’, bonus. Page 23 Check it out..

Last Month

Jamie Oliver

It’s no secret that we have a passion for food, but you might be as surprised as we were to find that Jamie Oliver has a passion for music; including ours.
Our track ‘Fly Away’ has been featured on Jamie Olivers Food Tube.

Pretty swish huh? Next stop, the travel channel!

BAM MARGERA – ****FACE UNSTOPPABLE

This month we had the pleasure of supporting Bam Margera of Jackass, Viva La Bam & Skate fame at a sold out O2 Academy 2.
Bam was a teenage hero of Loz & Jakes, and it was massively weird supporting someone who you used to play as in video games. The gig was one of the most fun we have had. The crowd were flat out awesome, with the front row singing ‘Get your hands off my woman’ while we were tuning up, joining in on the ‘Heys’ on our opener and doing some quality backing for our cover of  ‘Survivor’ – Talking of, here’s a fan shot video of ‘Survivor’ from the night.

It was wicked meeting so many new folk afterwards, we turned quite a few T-shirts into petrol, took some pictures and watched one dexterous new fan steal a CD – that’s our first theft I reckon, onto the big-time now!

A fistful of Festivals

West Fest kicked off  the plethora of festivals we played this month, with beautiful weather and marvelous people. We then traveled down to Newton for Newt Fest – probably the biggest Festival stage we have played and then back home for the brilliant Colwall Family Fest and the End. All blisteringly hot, and quite brilliant.

Our last festival of the month though, Bransford, started off a little overcast and then evolved into grey and blustery. Coming to the end of the set we decided to lay down a challenge to god, one he did not ignore, just as we got to the second chorus of Purple Rain, the heavens opened and it began raining, I mean real rain: hailing down in thick sheets of that sideways rain, well not being ones to welsh out of an agreement. We and the crowd (mostly) braved the onslaught and indeed, welcomed it. It was really quite a cathartic experience, being washed clean by sound and shower. It’s an experience I thoroughly recommend, and not one I shall swiftly forget.
